| We're looking at houses. Seriously. I have no idea how much we could afford - I'm overwhelmed by our student debt, but we could afford something modest, surely. Anyway, here's some of our very favorite and very moderate listings. We both like this one, but are thinking maybe it's a little more than we could afford. http://www.fullcircleathens.com/listings/view/197 This one is our favorite and was just reduced by $20,000 (!), but it's 25 minutes away from our jobs! Yuck! http://www.fullcircleathens.com/listings/view/189 And I think some of that "found art" is a little over the top. We're probably not townie enough (thank goodness!) to carry off something like that. He thinks it's very appalachian though. Those crazy townies, they just don't know. And this is what we like the best for the location and the price (which is stunning, btw. I didn't think homes that cheap existed outside of Maysville.) And the location would make resale so so good. Well, we think, it's off Baxter and on the bus line, but it might be a little too close to the projects and a little too far from Milledge aka sorority row. http://www.fullcircleathens.com/listings/view/187 He still wants to buy our rental from our landlady. I still don't think she's ever sell and honestly, I'm not sure I'd want to buy this place. The floor plan makes no sense and it needs so much work - new paint, landscaping overhaul, completely new kitchen, completely new bathroom. I mean, some rooms still only have one outlet, including our bedroom! Anyway, in other news. We're getting a new furbaby on Thursday! http://www.greyhounds2.org/adoption/adoptable.php We're looking at Nate; he sounds so sweet! And thinking of renaming him Mason. He might have a few other names up his sleeve though. And if my gentle readers are killing time on the internet by actually following all these links, consider just going to www.greyhounds2.org to see the creepy website mascot... | | |
| I have this idiot mother; she "heard" over the summer that my confirmation classes were going to be weekly. She did not call the R.E. office to confirm this; she did not even ask anyone from the R.E. office - she has two very good friends that work in this department. So, at least this is what she told me the first time we spoke, she pulls her tenth grade daughter out of our R.E. program and enrolled her in the confirmation program at another church 40 miles away. Well, someone else "told" her that my class meets monthly and not weekly and now she wants her daughter in it. Btw, we are ten weeks into the program at this point. My confirmation students are allowed one unexcused absence from the conf. class and five unexcused absences from Life Teen. She has definitely missed double that.
But, I can bend the rules because she would sort of be like a transfer student. So I get the daughter on the phone and tell her I will send her the make-up work if she will get a letter for me from the other church verifying her enrollment and completion of their program up to this time. Well, she can't. Her mom lied. She wasn't *enrolled* in the other church's program, just *planning* on starting their classes sometime soon. Umm, okay. I'm pretty sure that despite the differences in curriculum for sacramental prep from parish to parish, we all have similar enrollment dates... like at the beginning of the school year.
So I shoot the mom an e-mail explaining that if her daughter really was enrolled in the program as she had told me, it will be no problem to get a transfer letter and we can proceed from there. And if she wasn't really enrolled, then her daughter will have to wait until next year to start conf. classes. So she responds, completely ignoring everything that I've said by saying no her daughter wasn't really enrolled and could we please get started on the make-up work for the classes she's missed? But here's what really makes my blood boil. She addressed me as "Gwen." Now I get that people who've known me for a long time might have trouble calling me something else. But this woman has *never* met me. We spoke on the phone and then through e-mail. I've never introduced myself as anything other than my full name and have never signed an e-mail differently. She thinks we're friends now? Like she can guess at what my friends call me and call me that, too? Like that's supposed to endear her to me - like I'm going to break any more rules for her daughter's enrollment because she super sketch? I don't want things to go badly with this woman, but when she starts off that way... I just find it incredibly offensive. Maybe she ought to be calling me Ms. Lastname -- the way I am addressing her! I guess because I'm so young she thinks she can call me by a "nickname." I guess she thinks I don't deserve her respect .
Like yesterday at that network meeting: Hi Audrey. I'm Gwendolyn! It's so nice to meet you. -- oh, do you ever go by 'Gwen'? *no moron, if I wanted you to call me 'Gwen,' I probably would have introduced myself that way -- why don't I just call you 'Ree'*
/end rant. and sorry. | | |
| Since Georgia has made it public, I feel like I can be a little excited and not so wary. And btw, I haven't forgotten that I swore on my anchor pin. Who was your oot friend that I could possibly plan with? Can I be fb friends with her? Would she be opening to letting me plan? Or at least contribute funds to it? It was a really intense victorian house that she wanted to host it at, right? OMG, I can't wait to find out if it's a boy or girl, but I'm not going to lie, I really hope it's a girl.

| I really am not happy at my job(s). I always feel like I'm forgetting something or putting something off. Am I ever going to find something that will make me happy? | | |
| He's only been gone for two and a half hours and I'm already so lonely I could die. | | |
